I got damage to my skin and damage to my nerves,
I have sustained more damage than a good man deserves,
but my ship is still sailing, with a damaged keel.
I'm telling you baby, all this damage is real.
I got damage to my feet and damage to my hands,
there may have been some x-ray damage to my glands,
but the sun is still shining on my damaged face.
This world, I do believe, is a damaged place.
I got damage to my top and damage to my tail,
there's a lot you can't repair with a hammer and a nail,
but my flag is still flying from a damaged mast.
You got to love how long some damaged things will last.
I got damage to my faith and damage to my creed,
there have been degrees of damage to all that I believed,
but I try to hold my course, with a damaged chart.
I'm watching the birds as they soar and they dart.
I got damage to my friends and to all those I love,
I try to keep them safe and I cannot do enough,
but I still wrap them up in my damaged arms.
And they hold me too, and so we go on.
